Moskowitz Family Tzedaka Day 💙
Fifteen years ago, our then 1.5-year-old daughter was hospitalized for nearly two weeks at Hackensack Meridian Health Children's Hospital with pneumonia. Baruch HaShem (thank G-d), she made a full recovery—but it was a frightening time for our family.
Out of that experience, Moskowitz Family Tzedaka Day was born.
Twice a year—before Pesach and Sukkos—we count up the tzedaka (charity) money our family has quietly collected throughout the months. On Chol Hamoed, we head to Target and use every dollar to buy gifts for the children at the hospital that once cared for our daughter. These gifts are then donated to bring smiles to young patients going through tough times.
We are forever grateful to the hospital and its staff. This is just one small way we try to pay it forward and instill a spirit of giving in our children.
How it works:
Each day, we leave $0.25 per person on the table for the tzedaka jar. On Rosh Chodesh, special days, and before Shabbos and Yom Tov, it’s $1.00 per person. It really adds up—and even more so when done with love and intention.
Wishing everyone health, joy, and the opportunity to give back.
Many blessings,
Moshe Moskowitz
